High School Nationals

It is with great excitement that Newman Central Catholic High School is pleased to announce that three of our senior wrestlers; Maxx Hubbard, RJ Troye, and Garrett Webb will be wrestling at the National High School Coaches Association in Virginia Beach. To qualify, one must have been in the finals one of their 4 years in high school. The wrestlers along with parent, Phil Hubbard, will leave on March 28th and their stay will end on April 2nd. Newman will be assisting these boys on their journey to Virginia Beach. The Newman students will show their support by participating in a dress down day on March 23rd.

Guest Bartending and Fish Buffet

Also, to support the boys on this journey, Phil & Shauna Hubbard, Melissa & Dave Troye and Bill & Tracy Webb will be the guest bartenders from 6-8PM on March 23rd at Long Shots in Rock Falls. A fish sandwich, salad and soup bar – all you can eat will be available for $6.50 per person from 4-7PM. All tips and proceeds from the 50/50 drawing will be for the boys!

Donations are being accepted to assist in the financial obligations for this journey. Donations should be sent to Newman High School to the attention of Wrestling-Donation at 1101 W 23rd St., Sterling, IL 61081. All donations are tax deductible.

Purler Camp

We are excited to announce that we are working on bringing Purler wrestling camps to our area in mid-June. Purler is a very highly rated and sought after camp. The camp will be a 5 day camp held locally. (Most likely at Newman) The cost is less than half of what we would pay to send our kids to their St. Louis camp, plus we won’t have to worry about making two trips to St. Louis. Registration will be CAPPED at 40. Purler will not allow more than that, as they prefer that the kids get plenty of attention from the instructors. We need to decide in the next day or so whether or not there is enough interest in this camp to bring them here. All of their camp dates fill up each summer, and if we don’t get locked in on this date, someone else will. We already have a verbal commitment from 10 wrestlers, so I have no doubt that it will fill up quickly. Each attendee will also receive a copy of their Foundation System DVDs. (6 DVDs in all, which retail for $220) Please contact Jamey Sanders, Jeff Vesley or Brock Rude if you have a wrestler who is interested in attending this prestigious camp. Banquet / Singlets
